The Veloce 298 was one of the first boards to go really wide - what we thought was really wide - a couple of years ago. Everyone's going wide now, but the Veloce 298 remains our top pick for price-conscious shortboarders looking for a big, floaty board. If you're not an advanced or expert rider, there's no reason to spend more money. After all, the 298 has a great combination of qualities - good quickness, speed and turning ability, together with reasonable weight, incredible ding resistance and good components. Strap anti-twist is merely adequate, but otherwise no complaints. It's a great value. P
