yesterday to promote carpooling, Heckman and Anderson just followed
their daily weekday habit of saving gas and sharing camaraderie
during the seven-minute ride to their
jobs at the Somerset County
Clerk's
Office.

Commons mall and wends its way east through Somerville, Bound
Brook, North Plainfield and Watchung before heading into Union
County and then to New York, said Stephen Lax, director of bus
service planning for the transit agency. On a typical day, the
route ferries 600 riders through Somerset County, he said.

yesterday was an exception in that they carpooled for the 10-minute
ride to work at the Rutgers Cooperative Extension office in
Bridgewater to mark Traffic Buster Day.
Software "We'd do it more often if we could," said Morella, noting their
after-work responsibilities make it mostly impossible. "It's a
great thing."
Hard Drives Fleming said she and her co-worker decided to ride together
yesterday to mark Traffic Buster Day, but have done so in the past
when either one of them has car problems or the weather is bad.
Electronics "There is a need for carpooling because of the congestion on the
roads. It's been building up more and more," said Fleming, who
takes Route 202 to work. "At 5 o'clock it's bumper-to-bumper as far
as the eye can see."
