Counter Weight: Dear Republican War Monger

Early in the war, to keep the border states in the Union, Lincoln resisted the demands of the Radical Republicans to free the slaves.

What is your problem? We are peaceful demonstrators! How can you possibly be anti-peace? The Bush administration has claimed weapons of mass destruction, but has never given any evidence. Don't you understand that war is morally wrong?

Katz runs the company with 22 paid employees and 300 volunteers who give technical support to new users and are compensated with free memberships (remember those days at AOL ). He rents space in two AT&T data centers, one in Manhattan, another inSecaucus, N.J., with $700, 000 worth of computer equipment, end servers from Dell Computer and five IBM Unix servers. The $2 million annual payroll is his biggest expense.

"Computer industry analysts estimate that some 60 percent of all corporate data exists only on desktop and laptop computers, " said Walter Scott, CEO of Acronis. "Incorporating Acronis True Image with New Mexico Software backup server is the ideal solution to capture that corporate data and ensure that it is not lost. While traditional server backups are effective for protecting server data, every company should have a combination of server and workstation backup plans."

No problems here. I can see clearly that you are peaceful demonstrators by the obnoxious buttons you wear on your backpack that propose an idea, but not a solution to a problem. History shows that in the twentieth century, causes were just in occupying Europe and Japan because both were aggressive and oppressing peoples not within their own possessed national boundaries. Not to mention they were on the verge of destroying millions of human lives. The evidence given on February 5 by Colin Powell clearly proved that Hussein was harboring and lying about the fact he has weapons of mass destruction. Is there a reason he is going about destroying unclaimed weapons?

I am not anti-peace. The truth about Saddam Hussein is that he cares very little of your right to protest and carry banners. The United Nations is running out of options in dealing with his tyrannical and often theatrical displays. The world is appeasing him instead of stopping him. The pacifistic-United Nations approach has failed and diplomatic pressure is failing. The next logical option is forceful removal. If a dictator is determined, he will act in his dictatorial ways regardless of local, national or international government. He is one who is anti-peace. storage

Why is it so hard to take international protests seriously? Does the Civil Rights Movement or civil disobedience ring any bells? computer sales

We are comparing apples and oranges here. The Civil Rights Movement is still going on, and let it be said that it was combating a national cause, not an international dictator/tyrant. Perhaps a more likely comparison would be Adolf Hitler. It was and still is a triumph of American democratic action, but very little can be compared to an international movement to stop the United States from taking direct action against a tyrannical dictator. If the goal is to advance human and social rights, perhaps we should go to war. Torture and oppression in Iraq at the hands of the Republican guard is getting to be immeasurable, and needs to be stopped. technology

Don't you care about wasted lives? Do we depose a dictator, who has tortured, killed, and oppressed his own people, or do we risk the few so that no more may be killed as a result of this tyranny? You may think that G.W. Bush may be evil, but he wouldn't kill his own people in mass quantities. network

Rational Ryan, when rationality went out the window, you went with it. It is rational to say that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and must be disposed of. The rational counter-action would be to dispose of him, not protest for every reason the world shouldn't get involved or dispose of him. This is an irrational action. Your faith in the UN is almost too faithful. He probably hasn't changed his mind over the course of this article. He still doesn't care about your rights, or mine. netfinity

I do not claim to have the answers, but I think there is an argument to ignore peace or embrace peace. Nothing is absolute, which is why I question anyone who makes the argument that war is morally wrong. It remains that Iraq would be better off without Hussein. The paradox of war is that when in interest of human beings, it can have a capability to utterly destroy, and have a capability to resolve and improve at the same time. Such is the nature of the human experience. I, like Jen Rust, am torn between peace and effectiveness. If we are going to set a precedent and standard for dictators like Saddam Hussein, why not depose this man? The truth remains that the world is grey. Something must be destroyed for greater progress. War is simply a Machiavellian solution to a 20-plus year-old problem. How long will it be effective? We do not know. But our experiences cannot support pacifism, because our progress has been set in belligerent tendencies of dictatorial regimes. We still are the freest country in the world, which explains our high statistics in many unwanted categories. In which would you rather live in: tyranny or freedom? I prefer the latter. cheap computer
