US Consumer Confidence Falls in February

Microsoft The Conference Board's Consumer Confidence Index fell to 101.7 from 106.8 in January. Last year at this time the US Consumer Confidence Index was 100.3.

The consumer prices, which began falling in February, probably hit bottom in March and we should see improved CPI figures from now.

Laptop Computers While US Consumer Confidence hit a three-month low, Americans are still fairly optimistic about the current job market and economy. Currently, more people are looking to buy a new car or home.

The Nationwide Consumer Confidence Index has fallen four points to 81, its lowest ever figure, it has been announced.

Laptop Computer Retailers are expecting the spring holiday shopping season to be stronger than last year, according to a survey by the National Retail Federation.

Processor Laptop computers used to fall short when comparing processing speed with desktop computers. With today's technology, however, those times are soon coming to an end. Manufacturers like Intel and AMD have stepped up their development and are now making processors for laptops that are quite comparable to those of desktops. This allows consumers who want portability to also have the speed and power they need.

Desktop Computer According to the National Retail Federation's (NRF) 2006 St. Patrick's Day Consumer Intentions and Actions Survey, consumers will spend an estimated $2.69 billion on St. Patrick's Day - up significantly from $1.94 billion last year.

Notebooks While US consumers are currently optimistic about buying a new home or car, the US Department of Commerce just reported that new home sales in January fell by 5 percent and automakers are facing massive layoffs and plant closings as they struggle to recover from lost market share and rising costs.

Lenovo The US consumer confidence index was expected to fall to 104, according to the median forecast in a survey of economists. Forecasts ranged from 99.8 to 107.

Hard Drive Optimism about consumers' present situation rose to 129.3 this month, the highest since August 2001, from 128.8 in January, today's report showed. The gauge of expectations for the next six months fell to 83.3, the lowest since October, from 92.1.

Travelstar The share of consumers who said jobs were plentiful rose to 27.3 percent in February, the highest since August 2001, from 27 percent. The share of people who expect better employment opportunities in the next six months fell to 13.4 percent from 13.6 percent.

Gateway Stronger consumer spending, which accounts for 70 percent of the economy, will help propel the fastest pace of growth in more than two years this quarter, according to a survey by the National Association for Business Economics released yesterday.

Laptop Parts The economy will expand at an annual rate of 4.5 percent from January through March, faster than the 3.4 percent pace forecast in the November survey. Growth will slow to just over 3 percent in the second half, according to the survey of 53 economists that was conducted from Feb. 1 to Feb. 15, Bloomberg reports.

Software Real gross domestic product - the output of goods and services produced by labor and property located in the United States - increased at an annual rate of 1.6 percent in the fourth quarter of 2005, according to preliminary estimates released today by the US Department of Commerce this morning.

Hard Drives In the advance estimates, the increase in real GDP was 1.1 percent.

Electronics Consumer prices increased 3.6 in the fourth quarter, 0.3 percentage point more than the advance estimate.Excluding food and energy prices, the price index for gross domestic purchases increased 3.0 percent in the fourth quarter, compared with an increase of 2.5 percent in the third, the US Department of Commerce reported.

Canon Energy costs continued to plague US consumer confidence. Home heating fuel and gasoline prices rose at the consumser level which weighed heavily on consumers minds and caused confidence levels to drop. Energy costs for home heating fuel and gasoline represented 0.04 of the increase in consumer prices in the fourth quarter of 2005 compared to an 0.11 percent decrease in the previous quarter.

Desktop Pc Employers added 193,000 jobs last month, and the unemployment rate fell to 4.7 percent from 4.9 percent, according to the US Department of Labor. The current picture in the US job market gave consumers some confidence, but long-term that confidence slows.

Desktop Computers Hourly pay rose 3.3 percent in January from a year earlier, the most since February 2003. Bigger paychecks and lower unemployment helped fuel a 2.3 percent jump in January retail sales, the biggest increase since May 2004. But rising costs are affecting US consumer confidence even though retailers are estimating a stronger than normal spring shopping season.

Think Pad Current-dollar GDP -- the market value of the nation's output of goods and services -- increased 5.0 percent, or $154.7 billion, in the fourth quarter to a level of $12,760.4 billion. In the third quarter, current-dollar GDP increased 7.6 percent, or $227.7 billion.

Repair Real exports of goods and services increased 5.7 percent in the fourth quarter, compared with an increase of 2.5 percent in the third. Real imports of goods and services increased 12.8 percent, compared with an increase of 2.4 percent.
