Virus Definitions (Intelligent Updater
Symantec Security Response fully tests the Intelligent Updater
definitions for quality assurance. The definitions are posted daily
and can be downloaded from the Symantec Security Response Web site
and manually installed.
Corporate network administrators, as well as end users who practice
potentially risky Internet behavior (for example, clicking on email
attachments from unknown senders or attachments included in
unexpected emails, downloading files from newsgroups or suspicious
Web sites, and so on) benefit the most from downloading and
installing the Intelligent Updater definitions on a daily basis.
Intelligent Updater definitions are available
here.
Home users: While it is possible, it is not absolutely
necessary for you to download and install the Intelligent Updater
definitions daily. Symantec receives samples of new risks every day
and we build new definitions for these risks daily. However, in
many cases these risks are not in the wild, or if in the wild, they
have a very low incidence of infection. In any event, if we detect
that a risk in the wild is rapidly spreading, we immediately
release LiveUpdate packages to fully protect our customers.
Additionally, if you suspect that a risk is present on your
computer, take advantage of the Scan and Deliver functionality to
submit the suspect file for analysis by Symantec Security Response.

Intelligent Updater definitions from the Symantec Security Response
Web site,

IT Regulatory Compliance
While oil and gas companies have long taken measures to
protect their physical security, recent events have put a
greater focus on cyber security articularly for SCADA and DCS
systems. Since 9/11, industry associations such as the American
Gas Association and the American Petroleum Institute have
developed several standards for shoring up the industry IT
infrastructure. Recommendations for IT security at pipeline
operations include data encryption and the establishment of
methodologies for assessing security vulnerabilities. digital cameras
What more, federal and state agencies such as the EPA and
DOT have overlaid environmental regulations mandating auditing,
reporting, and disclosure requirements. Plus, the
Sarbanes-Oxley Act requires all public companies to certify the
effectiveness of their IT controls for financial reporting. In
all, the industry faces a heavy regulatory compliance
burden. desktops

Messaging Management
With increasing amounts of an organization s critical
information residing in or passing through the messaging
system, email has become a mission-critical business
application. In addition to the increase in volume of the
messages used in business transactions, ever-increasing
threats, including viruses, worms and spam is causing a
dramatic rise in the costs required to protect system uptime
and data. xseries

"Computer industry analysts estimate that some 60 percent of all corporate data exists only on desktop and laptop computers, " said Walter Scott, CEO of Acronis. "Incorporating Acronis True Image with New Mexico Software backup server is the ideal solution to capture that corporate data and ensure that it is not lost. While traditional server backups are effective for protecting server data, every company should have a combination of server and workstation backup plans."
According to the indictment, Jones would steal various IBM and Penguin computer servers from Verisign's warehouse in Virginia and sell them to Johnson. Johnson would then sell the servers to several individuals, who would sometimes place them for sale on eBay. As a result of this scheme, the indictment alleges that Jones and Johnson caused Verisign to lose more than $120, 000 worth of computer equipment. In the indictment, Jones and Johnson are charged in three counts with causing the interstate transportation of stolen property, namely IBM 330 and 335 servers, in violation of 18 U.S.C.
